Transparency for employers and candidates

Fair international recruitment of skilled workers and apprentices

Fair recruitment makes expectations, costs, decisions and data flows understandable before either side commits. DACHma Talent combines these principles with a structured employer mandate and clear responsibilities.

What fair international recruitment means in practice

Fair recruitment is not a marketing promise but a way of working that can be examined. Employers and interested professionals should understand who provides which service, which information is required, how decisions are made and which authorities decide independently. This includes realistic information about the role, place and hours of work, remuneration, potential recognition questions, the immigration route and preparation. Matters that remain unresolved are identified as open rather than hidden behind blanket assurances. Official information for employers is available from Make it in Germany.

DACHma Talent therefore starts with the company's actual staffing requirement. The search profile describes duties and conditions clearly enough for candidates to assess their own fit. Throughout the process, statements, documents, observations and official status information remain distinct. Fairness does not mean that every enquiry results in a placement. It means that rejections, limits and responsibilities are communicated clearly and that nobody is pushed into a decision through artificial time pressure.

Make costs and commercial interests transparent

Before awarding a mandate, the employer should be able to identify which DACHma Talent services are included in the calculation and which external costs may arise in the individual case. Authority fees, translations, recognition procedures, language courses, travel or accommodation are not automatically included in every engagement. The specific proposal and contract govern the scope. DACHma Talent does not publish invented flat figures; it explains which factors affect scope and workload and which deliverables agreed project milestones refer to.

Candidates also need understandable information about costs that may affect them and which party commissions a service. Hidden placement charges, unclear repayment obligations or pressure to take out personal loans are inconsistent with fair recruitment. Where third parties are involved, their role and service relationship are disclosed to the extent needed for an informed decision. The individual agreement remains binding; this page does not replace a review of the specific contract.

Decisions remain with the responsible parties

The employer defines the role, conducts the decisive interview and decides whether to offer employment or training. The selected person decides independently whether to apply, sign a contract and relocate. DACHma Talent structures sourcing, pre-selection, interview coordination and agreed preparation. Recognition bodies, immigration authorities, the Federal Employment Agency and German missions abroad assess their respective requirements independently. Recruitment can prepare these decisions but cannot guarantee a visa, recognition or entry.

This responsibility matrix prevents two common misunderstandings: DACHma Talent neither replaces the employer's professional judgement nor acts as an authority or legal adviser. The company remains responsible for accurate role information, working conditions, the contract, workplace induction and timely cooperation. Candidates must provide complete and accurate information. Open points are assigned to an owner and a next review step so that the process remains traceable.

Information must arrive clearly and in good time

A document alone does not create understanding. Material information is therefore explained in a language and format the recipient can follow. This includes duties, place and hours of work, remuneration, probation, accommodation, potential deductions, expected preparation and procedural limits. Changes should not first appear immediately before contract signature or entry. People must be able to ask questions without being disadvantaged in the selection process.

Employers also benefit from early clarity. They do not receive an uncommented stack of CVs, but an assessment against search criteria, the documented information status and open questions. An agreed Candidate Passport can structure relevant information but does not replace original records or the employer's interview. Where a statement is based only on self-report, that status is identified. This creates a sound basis for discussion rather than false certainty.

Treat data protection and consent as part of the process

International selection processes handle sensitive CV, qualification and contact data. DACHma Talent collects only the information needed for the relevant enquiry at first contact. Identity documents, health information or complete visa files do not belong in a general initial form. Before candidate information is shared with an employer, the purpose, recipient and selection stage must be defined. Access is limited to the people involved.

Consent is not a blank cheque for permanent candidate profiles. If the purpose changes or the selection process ends, the agreed retention and deletion rules apply. Employers should not forward profiles outside the mandate or copy them into uncontrolled systems. DACHma Talent therefore does not operate a public catalogue of real candidates. The published Candidate Passport sample is entirely fictitious and shows only a possible information structure.

Select against criteria rather than origin or pressure

A fair search profile derives criteria from the work itself: duties, evidenced qualifications, practical experience, necessary communication, working hours, location and realistic development opportunities. Origin, religion, family status or other non-role-related characteristics must not become hidden selection criteria. Employers define essential and trainable requirements, receive a reasoned shortlist and assess professional and personal fit in their own interview.

A language certificate or occupational title should not be treated as blanket proof of suitability either. Candidate Assessment separates documents, self-reports, observed situations and outstanding checks. Candidates understand the role and the next steps. The employer can see which statement is already robust and which question belongs in the interview. This transparency protects both sides from mismatched expectations.

Make questions, concerns and complaints accessible

A fair process needs a channel through which unclear information or problematic conduct can be raised. Participants should know whom to contact about contradictory statements, inappropriate pressure, data protection concerns or problems with an involved provider. Concerns are documented objectively, handled confidentially and directed to the responsible party. Raising a complaint must not automatically be treated as a lack of motivation.

DACHma Talent cannot decide every issue itself. Employment-law advice, formal appeals against authority decisions and urgent protection matters belong with the competent advisory services and authorities. DACHma Talent can identify an appropriate route and review its own process. Recurring concerns inform search profiles, information materials, partner due diligence and preparation, making the complaint route part of continuous quality improvement rather than a purely reactive measure.

Check fairness in the employer mandate

Before sourcing begins, employers should check whether the role and workplace can genuinely support the conditions presented. This includes an approved duty profile, clear working hours, a robust remuneration framework, an accessible workplace, realistic accommodation planning and a named person responsible for induction. Apprenticeships also require a training plan, vocational-school coordination and learning support. For regulated professions, recognition and the possible scope of practice need early clarification.

DACHma Talent records unresolved prerequisites during Employer Assessment. A search mandate should not begin while material working conditions remain unclear or information is expected to change fundamentally later. The Employer Readiness Check provides initial orientation, while the job-profile tool structures the specific role. Neither instrument replaces an individual review, but both create a shared basis for transparent sourcing, selection and preparation.

  • Describe the role and conditions completely
  • Allow candidates to decide without pressure
  • Process data for a defined purpose
  • Record open matters and their owners
  • Provide an accessible concern and complaint route

Frequently asked questions

These answers set out the scope, requirements and boundaries transparently.

Send us your question
What does DACHma Talent mean by fair recruitment?

Fair recruitment means transparent responsibilities, understandable information, role-related selection, purpose-limited data processing and accessible channels for questions. It is not a guarantee of placement, visa, recognition or retention.

How are costs handled transparently?

The individual agreement must transparently identify which party commissions and pays for each service before anyone commits. Hidden charges or unclear repayment obligations are inconsistent with the principles described here.

Does fair recruitment guarantee a visa or recognition?

No. Competent authorities and recognition bodies decide independently. Fair recruitment ensures that requirements, status and limits are explained clearly and that no procedural outcome is invented.

How can participants raise concerns or complaints?

Participants can contact the named DACHma representative through the agreed channel. The concern is documented and assessed confidentially, then handled internally or referred to the competent advisory service or authority.

Is this a quality seal or certification?

No. This page describes DACHma Talent working principles and does not claim a government quality seal or external certification. Protected seals are mentioned only where an actual entitlement exists.

What is the employer's role?

The employer must describe the role, conditions and expectations accurately, meet candidates and make the hiring decision. It is also responsible for the contract, workplace cooperation, induction and compliance with its legal obligations.
